Chris Tollet gets his first win!

Oktoberfest was the theme with some runners dressed in fancy dress. An oompah band was playing and bratwurst sausages were on a barbie. After scrabbling together money to enter, he only had 5 minutes to warm up. It was a good turn out and Chris set off at a goodly pace. The race took the runners passed the Hilsea Lido to IBM area and back. Chris blazed a trail to the finish and actually won the race in approx 22.20. (Still to be confirmed!) this was Chris' first ever win! He and mum were elated to say the least.
Chris has Asperger Syndrome and running has been his life since he joined the club at 8 years ago with Pat Butchers group. So to actually win a race was a major achievement! He said 'I just can't believe it- I now know how Mo Farah feels!' He won by a good margin as well. Chris also took part in the Great South Run last weekend, his first. He came 268 out of over 25,000 entrants! He was unsure if he could cope with the crowds but did himself, his family and friends proud. Alex Teuten was magnificent coming 7th and made time to congratulate Chris which he so appreciated as he has always looked up to Alex.
All in all a good couple of weekends. He is now wanting to do the Gosport half marathon, another first!
