Age Groups for Sportshall (U11s,U13s,U15s Boys and Girls) 2016/2017 If you are unsure whether you can compete within a certain age group (u11, u13, u15,) then the following guidelines will help determine which age group is applicable. (1) The Competition Year shall extend from 1st October 2016 to 31st March 2017 Under 11 Boys and Girls (School Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) Sportshall competition for Under 11’s shall be confined to competitors who are aged in Years 3, 4, 5 and Yr 6 at school starting September 2017 Under 13 Boys and Girls (School Years 7 and 8) Sportshall competition for Under 13’s shall be confined to competitors who are aged in Years 7 and 8 at school starting September 2017 Under 15 Boys and Girls (School Years 9 and 10) Sportshall competition for Under 15’s shall be confined to competitors who are in Years 9 and 10 at school starting September 2017 WHAT SHOES SHOULD I WEAR FOR SPORTSHALL? Ordinary Trainers can be worn for Sportshall Competition but there is a significant advantage to be had by wearing Sportshall specific shoes with non-slip soles as below. Court shoes are available to buy from Alexandra sports The Sportshall Season Explained: For some of our younger athletes and their parents the competitive structure of the athletics year can be confusing. The Sportshall Competition officially starts on the 16th October and finishes on the 23rd April when the Outdoor Track season starts again. Athletes are picked depending on their performance in League matches to Represent Hampshire in the various County Sportshall Competitions. All League matches are 12.00 to 5.00pm. You will be representing the club in League Matches so club vests or crop tops must be worn when competing. To Represent Your Club in a Sportshall League Event costs just £3 per athlete which all goes to cover the cost of the hall hire. The Purpose of Training hard every week is to enable you to run in these races. The events are fun and you will miss out if you do not join your friends and enjoy the Team Spirit that is a big part of club athletics.
