Great School Sprint
A good afternoon spent at The Guildhall with Jackie Chandler and Phil Budd watching some of our U13 Sprinters in action for their schools. Richard Kielty was on the microphone and I have to say he was very good and gave commentary for all the races during the afternoon. Dougie Ness finishing in runner up position sop he will be a 1st reserve for Manchester and Polly Heather with 3rd place also being a 2nd reserve. Other memorable performances from Alannah Parry who came 4th just behind Polly and Maya Kenall and Olivia East putting in strong performances throughout the afternoon. Lottie Westbrook also competed and seemed to enjoy the proceedings. Some new athletes from Phil Budds new Satelite Club Brune Park competed with one of them Winning the Girls Race overall. She will be coming down the track to train and the boy from PGS who just beat Dougie by a few inches will also hopefully be coming down. Many of the U13s missed out due to their schools not putting in the effort to get involved which is a real shame. This to me shows how important it is for local senior schools to collaborate more with local sports clubs by creating more links with P.E teachers. But that is for another time.
Well done everyone
