- At what age can youngsters normally start athletics?
The recommended age for your son or daughter to start getting introduced to athletics is from the age of 8 onwards. This is due to their rapid growth and the impact to them. From the age of 8, we offer training sessions on a Tuesday from 6.00pm to 7.00pm and Saturday from 9.00am to 10.30 am. We also offer competitive meetings for 9-10 yr olds. - I don't know who to speak to when attending a training session for the first time?
You're welcome to speak to any of the coaches who are around the track area when you arrive for your first training session and they will be able to point you in the right direction. Also take a look at the Coaching Staff section to lookup contact information for all the clubs' coaches.
- What training sessions sessions are available for the over 11's?
Tuesday and Thursday evenings are our main sessions as we have exclusive use of the athletic track at the Mountbatten Centre but individual coaches may have sessions other than these.
- Do you have qualified coaches?
The club has over 30 coaches with a formal Coaching qualification.
- What athletic disciplines are provided by the club?
The club covers all athletic disciplines
- What competition is provided?
The club is involved with 6 Track & Field Leagues, Sportshall, 2 Cross-Country Leagues & a Road Race League. Additionally, the club competes in regional and national competitions
