Farewell to Terry Townsend

Posted by Peter Newton 0335 on 14 December 2017

The club are saddened to learn of the death of Terry Townsend. Terry, 71, died on 23 November after falling from a ladder while at work. He suffered head injuries and despite the air ambulance being called, Terry was pronounced dead at the scene.

Terry was born in Reading in 1946 and later moved to Portsmouth, working at the Greyhound stadium before starting up is own kennels and becoming a trainer. He later work as a groundsman at Alexandra Park and was very popular with many of our club members.

Terry had a love of running, particularly marathons, and was competing until quite recently.

Terry was a lively guy, full of fun and something of a joker and older members of the club will have fond memories of his time at Portsmouth.
